Recruited into the 75th Ranger regiment, 1LT Parkes arrives at Ft. Benning and learns everything there is to know about mortars, and lies. He gets honest and makes promises. He exits Jumpmaster school with a clean slate bound for the great Northwest and duty with the 2nd Ranger battalion and men of unparalleled principal. Meet Lieutenant Pete, a young officer of uncompromising bearing and unbreakable constitution, and Captain Mike, a soldier destined for greatness on the world’s stage, and LG, perhaps the most dedicated Ranger of all times. But here Parkes does not belong.

Another outstanding read from Stephen Parkes. In book one The Criminal most of Mr. Parkes writing is his story as an addict and a criminal and a man under lock and key. In book two Parkes shows the reader a glimpse of the man behind the monster so to speak and instead of the view given to the reader in book one you get to see a man who has accomplished extraordinary things and proves Parkes to be one of uncommon determination and grit. It gives the reader an undiluted personal account of the struggles and hardships and dangers of US Army Ranger school and really gives one a better understanding of just what kind of man it takes to not only complete the training successfully but what kind of man and soldier it takes to be a member of the 75th. Again in a style that is unique to Parkes and is so real that you feel as though your speaking with him and getting it straight from Parkes himself and not a book the reader is once again allowed to look into the life of a man who has accomplished amazing things and though you see part of Mr. Parkes before "It" happens and the story of book one he once again is brutally honest about himself and even during his time as Lt. Parkes, a motivated and tough as nails soldier, he shows a little bit of how he spiraled down into the events of book one and gives the first glimpse of the beast within. Mr. Parkes' story is fascinating and relatable at many points and also humorous and exciting and sad and even a bit vulgar with still moments of levity but as always it is unwaveringly readable and a challenge to put down. Another must read page turner from Parkes in The Hanged Man Series. Bravo.Product details

As a woman reading about Ranger School I was surprised at how gripped I was by this story. Parkes is an amzing story teller. I felt I could see what he was seeing feel what he was feeling. I found myself cheering him on and then screaming at him please Stop! I can't wait for book 3 to see where he takes me next!
